Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas about 2214 m (7,262 ft) above sea
level, this one-time summer capital of the British Raj is now the capital of
Himachal Pradesh. The 80 kms journey from Kalka has a romance of its own, the
mountain road, winding through terraced fields, pine forests and rhododendron
trees. Winter sports are held every year at Kufri, 16 kms from Shimla. Shimla
is the point of origin of many interesting treks.Shimla is 365 Kms from Delhi.
Jakhoo Temple (2455 Mtrs)
Jakhoo temple is at Shimla's highest peak offers a panoramic view of the town.
An ancient temple dedicated to "Lord Hanuman" is of great attraction
over here.
Fagu (2450 Mtrs)
Fagu is 24 Kms from Shimla on India- Tibet road. The place offers a great scenic
beauty.
Narkanda (2708 Mtrs)
Narkanda is 60 Kms from Shimla on Indo- Tibet road.Narkanda offers spectacular
views of snow ranges. An uphill trek through Deodar woods leads to Hatu Peak
(8 Km). Ancient temple of Hatu Mata located here.
Mashobra (2148 Mtrs)
Mashobra is 12 Kms from Shimla on Shimla - Naldehra road. Surrounded by thick
forests and offers ideal walks. Goddess Durga temple is worth seeing at Mashobra.
Naldehra (2044 Mtrs)
Naldehra is 22 Kms from Shimla on Shimla - Tattapani road. Naldehra is famous
for its nine hole golf course. It was designed by the British viceroy, Lord
Curzon who was so enchanted by this place that he gave his daughter Alexandra,
Naldehra as her second name. Ancient Nag temple is also situated here.
Kufri (2510 Mtrs)
Kufri in 19 Kms from Shimla, and very famous skiing destination. Kufri is also popular for trekking trails and hiking.
